Oh La La! From Thursday the 22nd of March through to Sunday the 25th, the beautiful artist’s village of Altos de Chavón in Casa de Campo will come alive with all things French, during a fabulous French festival named “Semana de Francia.”
The event, being sponsored by the Dominican Ambassador of France, the Dominican-French Chamber of Commerce and Casa de Campo will celebrate the French culture with music, art and cultural showcases as well as a number of comercial exhibitions and hopes strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
The event was officially announced during a press release last Friday the 20th of January in Santo Domingo, with the participation of Dominican Ambassador of France, Blandine Kreiss, president of the Dominican-French Chamber of Commerce, Manuel A. Grullón as well as Claudio Silvestri, President and CEO of Premier Resorts and Hotels, the management company for Casa de Campo.
“This idea of converting Altos de Chavón into a pueblito francés (French village) for 3 days, we embrace with enthusiasm – we can provide all attendees the pleasure of experiencing this enriching experience, the historic French culture , art, cuisine and music. ” —— Manuel A. Also present at the press conference, Claudio Silvestri, expressed his excitement that the event will be hosted by Casa de Campo in Altos de Chavón – especially as this year the Altos de Chavón amphitheater is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary with a variety of different artistic and cultural activities.
“During Semana de Francia (French week), the first “Copa Claude Terrail” polo tournament will be played, in honor and memory of the Claude Terrail, owner of legendary French restaurant, La Tour D’Argent in Paris, who used to play Polo in Casa de Campo.” —— Claudio Silvestri
Of course, as the “World’s Leading Golf Resort”, Casa de Campo will also host a Dominican-French golf tournament, which will be played in 2 stages; the first stage in Casa de Campo on the famous Pete Dye designed courses and the final stage later in the year, in France in the Riviera Golf de Barbossi, Mondelieu.
On Saturday the 24th of March, the final night of the event, a concert will be hosted at the Altos de Chavón Amphitheater, with a presentation led by René Coll accompanied by his orchestra and featuring artists from both France and the Dominican Republic.

“Semana de Francia” – Summary of Events and Activities:
Although a program of activities has not yet been released for this event, the following is a quick summary of what we can expect:
• A Dominican-French commercial exhibition
• A polo tournament called “Copa Claude Terrail”, played on the Casa de Campo polo fields in memory of Claude Terrail, owner of legendary French restaurant, La Tour D’Argent in Paris
