Seaborne Casa de Campo

Last Thursday the 13th of February, Seaborne Airlines celebrated the upcoming start of daily flights between La Romana – Casa de Campo and San Juan Puerto Rico.

Seaborne Airlines, who currently land into the La Romana – Casa de Campo airport from San Juan every Thursday and Sunday (a service which started in December), will start a daily direct connection between the two destinations on March 15th.

As the Caribbean’s fastest expanding airline, opening 4 new destinations in the Dominican Republic in just 3 months, there simply wasn’t enough time to properly celebrate the arrival of Seaborne in Casa de Campo in December, so this ceremony served as both an inauguration celebration, as well as the perfect moment to raise a toast to the new daily direct flight.

Although not arriving for the first time, the Seaborne flight arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico on Thursday, was nevertheless treated to the traditional water salute, before the other celebrations got underway.

The plane, its crew and passengers were then greeted on the tarmac by Luis Emilio Rodriguez, Director of the La Romana – Casa de Campo International airport and the La Romana Tourist Port and Claudio Silvestri, president of the Casa de Campo resort. Among the passengers was Mike Ritzi, Director of new business, development and marketing at Seaborne who then led the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Back inside the La Romana – Casa de Campo terminal, Mike, who was clearly thrilled to have just arrived into paradise, did a short and rather humorous presentation to the gathered members of the press and La Romana – Bayahibe community. Personally, my favorite part of the presentation was when Mike asked “Who knows where the headquarters of Seaborne are located?” And as the only person who knew the answer (St. Croix), I won a golden ticket – for a roundtrip to San Juan, Puerto Rico!
