SAVE THE DATE! Events 2011: our guide to fun in Casa!

Life in Casa de Campo goes by faster than one would expect, so it is important to stay in the know – you don’t want to miss any of the wonderful activities and events that make life here so special! So here is our ‘Save the Date’ events guide to most of the key events happening in Casa de Campo in 2011. (Oprima aqui a ver esta pagina en Español.)

Please note: Whilst we have tried to make this calendar of events as complete as possible – it is just a guide! Over the course of the year we are sure that there will be some changes, new events will be created/invented, whilst others may be postponed or even cancelled! A version of this calendar, which we will keep fully updated can be found at the top of the main website page, where it says ‘Calendar’ – check back there to stay fully updated!

January

Saturday January 8th: The Feria Barlovento – A Venetian Festival in the Marina Casa de Campo
A lively street fair, organized by Casa de Campo Living and the Marina Casa de Campo, which will bring together Casa de Campo guests and residents to enjoy a magical evening of ‘masquerade’ shopping, music, entertainment and so much more.

January 21st – 23rd: The Fundacion MIR Magical Splendor for Life
The highlight of this annual fundraising weekend  is the ‘Magical Splendor for Life’ gala dinner, which is ‘the’ fashion event of the year, this year featuring a fashion show by Badgley Mischka. This year the event also includes a golf tournament at the La Romana Country Club and an After Party with DJ Gringo.

February

Wednesday February 2nd: Chinese New Year Dinner and Celebration at Chinois
Celebrate the Chinese New Year at Chinois Chinese Restaurant with a procession led by traditional dancing Chinese dragons.

Saturday February 5th: Chichigua Fest 2011
Casa de Campo Living’s second annual Chichigua Fest is a family friendly event for kids of all ages to come and show off their kite flying prowess, with an expected 200+ kites taking to the skys. For those who prefer to be a little more earth bound, there will also be Frisbee, juegos inflables (inflatable games), a BBQ and a beer tent!

February 18th & 19th: Hogar del Niño Annual Weekend
This annual fundraising event takes place over 2 days and includes a variety of different fundraising activities and events; a polo tournament, houses and gardens tour, bike marathon, tennis tournament, golf tournament and a dinner-dance celebration.

Saturday February 26th: Carnaval en Casa and Costumed Golf Cart Parade!
Casa de Campo Living presents the second annual Carnaval en Casa, a wonderful street fair and celebration of the Dominican Republic’s traditional Carnaval with community ‘comparsas de carnaval’ and Carnaval Golf Cart parade! It’s time to start planning your Caranaval Costume!

Saturday February 26th: Adopt a Crib Thank You Dinner
This dinner is an annual event held by the Hogar del Niño to thank their members of the ‘Adopt a Crib’ program who each donate at least USD$1,000 per year to be a member.

Sunday February 27th: La Romana Carnaval
A Carnaval parade through the streets of La Romana – watch as hundred of dancers and groups parade and dance by in the most weird and wonderfully elaborate costumes.

March

11th – 13th March: The McDaniel Teaching Pro’s Tournament
The tournament is played between the ball boys and teaching pro’s of the La Terraza tennis club and the La Romana Country Club. The 4-day tournament is sponsored by the McDaniel Family and residents of CDC, with the money raised sponsoring the education of the club’s young ball boys and girls.

April

13th – 17th April: The Sugar Open Golf Tournament *Invitation Only*
This annual fundraising tournament is played on Casa de Campo’s golf courses; the Teeth of the Dog, the Links and the Dye Fore over 4 days with private dinners and cocktail parties held in various private locations and villas within the resort.

NEW! Wednesday 20th-Sunday 24th April: Semana Santa Supercar Festival
Casa de Campo Living presents the Semana Santa Supercar Festival – a Festival to showcase and celebrate the Dominican Republic’s fastest, flashiest and most furious luxury cars. With car exhibits, a champagne cocktail launch party, street party and your chance to test drive some of the world’s most beautiful, classy, speedy and of course most expensive automobiles!

Saturday 23rd April: Catamaran Party Boat to Palmilla
The ultimate in pumped up party luxury, Casa de Campo Living will transport you via catamaran to the annual Sabado Semana Santa boat party at Palmilla! The pinnacle of decadence with plenty of champagne, drinking, music, dancing and of course beautiful bikini-clad women. Unmissable.

May

NEW! Saturday 14th May: Bazaar Primevera
Casa de Campo Living presents our 4th Bazaar in Altos de Chavón and the first especially for Mothers Day! The perfect opportunity to prepare for and buy gifts for Mothers Day with; abundant shopping opportunities, a kids fun area with juegos inflables, games and workshops where the children can create their own mothers day card, a BBQ and bar/lounge area, art exhibits and even a ‘Mother of the Year’ contest!

Friday 20th May (TBC): Estilo 2011 – End of year Fashion Show by the Altos de Chavón Fashion students
The final year fashion students of the Altos de Chavón school of art and design present their collections in a fashion show, with students and CDC locals used as the models. It is a fun occasion attended by the CDC community and other students.

June

Mid-June (TBA): Dewars 12 Golf Invitational Tournament *Invitation Only*
This by-invite-only golf tournament is played on the Teeth of the Dog golf course and is hosted by a group of beautiful young ladies (previously PlayBoy Bunnies and Maxim Models), a welcome cocktail and awards dinner are held at private locations within the resort.

July

Saturday 2nd July: The HOEDOWN
Casa de Campo Living’s 2nd Annual ‘Fiesta Americana’, an American themed party to celebrate American Independence Day at the Casa de Campo Dude Ranch with; a Donkey Polo Tournament, a cowboy, cowgirl and cow-dog fancy dress contest, a BBQ and Caja China, Rodeo Show, Bucking Bronco Mechanical Rodeo Bull, bazar, Whiskey Saloon and darts tournament for the cowboys, line-dancing, live band and can can girls! YEEEHAAAAAAWWWW!

12th-14th August (TBC): The Fundacion MIR Family Weekend for Life
This annual fundraising weekend event includes tennis and golf tournaments, followed by a lavish and fun-filled evening soiree called ‘Dancing for Life.’

September

Beginning of Sept (TBA): The Proseguros Tennis Tournament
A 4-day tennis tournament with competitors from across the DR, and many other countries such as the USA, Puerto Rico, Spain, Columbia and Italy.

October

NEW! Saturday 1st October: OctoberFest 2011
Casa de Campo Living’s first annual October Fest with beer, beer and more beer! Discover the taste of Germany with German beers, sausages, cookies, a German market, live music and lederhosen – the German National Dress! Prost!

(Date TBA): Dueños 2011 An annual event organised and paid for by Costasur and Casa de Campo for Casa de Campo’s villa owners (Dueños), which encompasses tennis polo and golf tournament, the Casathon (5km fun run), shooting and horse-riding, the day culminates in a spectacular party/celebration usually held at the La Romana Country Club in Casa de Campo.

NEW! The Saturday and Sunday of Dueños weekend (TBA): Feria Dueños – Parque de Attraciones y Bazaar
Casa de Campo Living’s first ‘Feria Dueños’ will be an amusement park with fun games and attractions for all the family; water slides and games, a dunk tank, juegos inflables, bungee bouncing, sumo wrestling, macho strength contest, bazaar area for shopping, food, drinks, cotton candy, popcorn and more!

Saturday 29th October: Halloween in Casa!
Halloween in Casa de Campo is ALWAYS fun and there are always lots of parties for kids and adults – this year we are sure there will be just as many options!

November

Saturday 26th November: The Joli-Day Beach Luau
Casa de Campo Living’s 2nd Annual Joli-Day Beach Luau party – a fun day at the beach for all the family with; inflatable water slides, beach volleyball tournament, sand castle building contest, water sports, kayak racing, beach BBQ, Nikki-Beach style champagne lounge, beach cocktails, milkshakes, smoothies and ice-cream bar, grass skirts dancing contest and more!

December

Saturday 3rd December: Teatro de la Comunidad
Casa de Campo Living’s 2nd annual talent show and community theatre in the Altos de Chavón amphitheatre with performances by Casa de Campo and La Romana’s most talented community members!

Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th December: The Bazaar Navideño
Casa de Campo Living’s 2nd Annual Bazaar Navideño will be a festive 2-day Christmas market with holiday shopping bargains, fun games and activities for kids, a visit from Santa and of course the spectacular Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony!

Saturday 17th December (TBC): The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Altos de Chavón
The official start to Christmas! The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is when Altos de Chavón turns on the Christmas lights and the Christmas tree in a grand ceremony with fireworks and a concert, thus beginning a series of Christmas activities and attractions in Altos de Chavón.

Thurs 29th (TBC): Cartier Benefit in aid of the Fundacion MIR and the Hogar del Niño
This annual fundraising event takes place at Casa Grande, hosted by Emilia and Pepe Fanjul, funds are raised for the charities through ticket sales, the live and silent auctions, the raffle and through sales at the on-site Cartier boutique. The evening is divided into 2 halves – beginning with a cocktail reception, during which the silent auction takes place followed by the dinner, when the raffle is drawn and the live auction takes place.

Saturday 31st December: Catamaran Party Boat to Palmilla
The only way to end the year in true Casa de Campo style, the annual New Years Eve boat party at Palmilla is the pinnacle of decadence with excess everything; champagne, drinking, music dancing and of course beautiful bikini-clad women. Unmissable.
