Last Sunday June 17th 2012, after completing a stressful period of final examinations, the graduating class of the Saint John School, located in Buena Vista, La Romana, celebrated their traditional “graduation ring dinner” at a private Casa de Campo villa, where they officially received their graduation rings before the eagerly anticipated graduation ceremony taking place this coming Saturday July 7th!

“The Saint John School has been my home, my classemates are my second family and our headmaster is part of this great family, a person who has always been there to support us. It’s the place in which I met these wonderful 22 persons who have travelled along this challenging journey, as well as other classmates who have taken different paths or moved to different countries. Everything is going great! The graduation dress is in process… There is always a celebrating party after the graduation ceremony with friends and family and those are our plans for now. I have great expectations for this big day!!!

“During the graduation ring dinner we received our rings after dinner and shared a great time with our friends and family. I would highlight the moment in which “Tía Hilda” started describing each and everyone of us members of the graduating class, demonstrating how well she knows all of us! I hope everything goes well in our graduation, especially with my classmates’ speeches… everything is coming out great! The Saint John is undoubtedly important to me. I’ve studied in it for 16 years and it was the place where I learnt how to talk, read, write and have hold of strong moral values; one of the best experiences was actually learning the meaning of friendship, union and solidarity. It’s impossible to forget so many wonderful memories and people who I’ve seen since I was a small kid in diapers… I want to study Psycology!” — Paola Román
“The Saint John School means a lot to me, since it has been my second home for 15 years. It was the place where I grew, where I acquired knowledge and shared numerous moments of my life with my classmates. What I most enjoyed during the graduation ring dinner, apart from the delicious food, was the environment of union produced between all of us (teachers, parents and classmates). It was quite an intimate ocassion and I felt quite happy and satisfied with my accomplishments until this moment. My expectations for the graduations.. I want it to be an unforgettable evening, filled with emotions that I will remember my whole life. I hope the hours go by really slow so I can enjoy each of these moments and now that we are only a few days away from the graduation, the preparations are good; my mum has taken care of everything. My plan is to enjoy my summer vacations and then get back to my studies, achieve my goals and dreams, among them, that of becoming a professional and a productive entity in the future”. — Scarlett Rodríguez
Here we share a selection of photos taken during the Saint John School’s “Graduation Ring Dinner”, celebrated last Sunday June 17th in Casa de Campo. Photos were contributed by the Saint John School:“For me, the graduation ring dinner had a great significance, since the school’s headmaster highlighted each and every single one of our qualities.. it was very nice of her and it was a moment that we will never forget. Everything is going great! It will be a completely different graduation from those celebrated in the past. We have made some changes and have added some other things which will allow more participation making it more entertaining for ourselves and guests in general. After the graduation I will be having dinner with close family and friends and later I will join optimus for a little dancing!! My plans are; moving to Santo Domingo to study Law. It’s a carreer I love! The Saint John School means a lot to me, I could sum it up in two words; home and love. Home, because the Saint John School is known as SAINT JOHN FAMILY and whenever you talk about family, love is involved. Different from other schools, there is a great communication between students and the schools director, Tía Hilda, and teachers. This allows her to know us quite well, it allows us to have a better relationship with her as our friend, director and second mother… this creates a wonderful union, an opportunity to love each other, to grow and give the best of ourselves now – so that when we go to college, a completely different world, we are fully prepared for the future with what we have learnt at Saint John School.” — América Pujol
