Dino LaCapra, superstar runner/fundraiser is at it again! And this time he is running the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC to raise funds for the Fundación MIR!
“We are at it again!”Dino LaCapra told Casa de Campo Living. “We are raising money to buy new computers for the computer lab. Our goal is to purchase at least 6 new computers, so the students will have additional access to learning tools. We all know how important technology is, helping us communicate and learn faster than ever.”
The race is this Saturday so please show your support of Dino and of the Fundación MIR and donate now! Click here to donate.
Why does the Fundación MIR need computers?
The Fundación MIR really needs computers, read these quick facts and you’ll understand why:
– They currently have 13 used computers for 1,200 students
– Most under-served children in the Dominican Republics DO NOT have the privilege of internet or computer access
– The majority of public schools do not have the luxury of computers, and in homes where children do not go to school, there definitely are not computers.
– The Fundacion MIR schools recruit children from very poor neighborhoods, and provide them with opportunities they would generally not experience.
Donate a computer!?
If you wish to donate a new computer to the school instead of money you can contact us at dino.lacapra@gmail.com.
Below are the General Specifications that we are requesting:
Standard tower, including DVD and internal internet card.
English keyboard with cable (wireless keyboards require batteries which are expensive in the DR)
Mouse with cable
18.5 inch monitor
Windows 7
Thank you for your donation and good luck to Dino!
