The Rolex Farr 40 event was from start to finish spectacular – with VIP events every night and excellent and exhilarating sailing everyday! The pinnacle of the event was the prize-giving ceremony, followed by a wild party at the Marina Casa de Campo’s Victory Club – sailors certainly know how to party….

Read on to see my photos and to hear about what really happened…. (my version, only slightly adulterated)

Having spent the day sailing, watching the regatta and enjoying some white wine at Palmilla with friends, we arrived merrily back at the Marina Casa de Campo ready to continue enjoying the atmosphere – at the Grey Goose bar, part of the Rolex Farr 40 village.

Unfortunately, by treating ourselves to the Grey Goose Matini’s instead of going to get ready, we arrived a little late to the prize giving ceremony – but just in time to see the competitions runner’s up being awarded their prize!

The crew of Transfusion, receive their award for second place in the Rolex Farr 40 regatta!

Following them the Italian team Nerone took the stage to receive their awards, the Rolex Farr 40 trophy was presented by Jim Richardson, president of the Rolex Farr 40 worlds.

As you can see the crew of 9 men and one very brave lady (9 Italian men, 1 boat…) were ecstatic to recieve the first prize.

Following the trophy Rolex awarded a beautiful Rolex watch to the team, which was unsurprisingly very gratefully received!

It seems the Italian crew were cetainly better at sailing than they were at posing for photos!

Immediately after the prize-giving the party began with plenty of champagne and even more ‘high jinx!’

There was a dinner which was served like appetizers – passed around by the waiters on trays, so that if you saw something you wanted – you grabbed a plate and the cutlery and just sat down to eat wherever you were. It was ideal – meaning you could eat, drink, circulate and even dance all at once!

It wasn’t long before everyone hit the dance floor….
