Rodrigo Huerta and Stefania Mosyagina win the National Junior Championships in Casa de Campo

Athletes Rodrigo Huerta and Stefania Mosyagina have been crowned champions of the National Youth Championships, an event organized by the Dominican Golf Federation (Fedogolf) and the National Youth Tour, held at the Teeth of the Dog, The Links, and Dye Fore courses, at Casa de Campo between Friday and Sunday, with more than 70 children between 4 and 18 years old.

Huerta, a promising Dominican golfer, was the champion in 15-18 with scores of 71+75+75, while Mosyagina won with scores of 86+78+76. Camila Yoo was the runner-up with 84+86+82.

Huerta, a native of Santiago, was the champion of the event at the age of 14, the only one at that age to win the 15-18 category in the history of the National Championships. He had the best score of the tournament with 71; Kevin Rodríguez, who was champion last year, this 2022 was runner-up, with 75 + 83 + 79.

Mosyagina won the event for the first time, as Stephany Kim had won the event four times in a row in the past few years.

Other Champions

Antonio Oliva was the champion 13-14 with 79+71, that score of 71 in the second round leaves him tied with Huerta. Juan Tomás Herrera took second place with cards of 81+78.

Waldo Aguasvivas won his category for the first time, 11-12 in the National Championships, this time he beat runner-up Alejandro Balbuena 162-175.

Alejandro Cerda is another national champion with a score of 88 in two days at 9-10. And as runner-up the young Luca Riedl.

The young promises Luis Manuel Peralta of Santiago won the 7-8, and Diego Columna took the 4-6 category.

Female branch

Lilli Downer with 177 in two days was crowned champion in the 13-14, followed by María Fernanda Fernández, the national runner-up. And Sara Sabillón is the champion of 11-12.

María José Ramírez is again the national champion in the 9-10, with cards of 54+56, followed by the runner-up Miranda Medero, who had cards of 55+56, both had a nice duel.

A new champion in the 4-6 is María Del Mar Aybar, who had two rounds of 30+33. Anabelle Marcano was second with 38+36.

The National Championships are the most important event at the youth level. Andrea Attus was the rules director for the event. Fedogolf thanked Casa de Campo and all its staff for the excellent support provided to the National Youth Tour.
