On Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th of February, the Hogar del Niño and the Casa de Campo community gathered together to celebrate a very successful Annual Hogar del Niño Fundraising Weekend, where everybody enjoyed a variety of sporting activities; golf, tennis, cycling, and polo, as well as a tour of the Hogar del Niño, a Home and Gardens tour and a cocktail at the Diagnostica Social. Here we bring you memories of the good times during this spectacular weekend!
On Thursday the 17th of February 2011 as part of the Hogar del Niño fundraising weekend, the Patronato Benefico Oriental, the umbrella organisation for the Diagnostica Social and the Hogar del Niño hosted a cocktail for it’s supporters.
At 5pm on the Friday afternoon, the Pitirrii/Guero team met the Casa de Campo team and despite the slightly muddy, wet conditions the 2 teams passionately battled it out to be crowned the champions.
The 1st ‘Maraton MTB’ organised by the Cañeros, a bike club ran by Casa de Campo villa owner Simon Lopez took place on Saturday morning the 19th of February 2011 and was a wheel-away success!
Numerous energized matches took place on the Tennis courts of the La Romana Country Club, where many of the Casa de Campo villa owners participated, showcasing their sporting prowess whilst contributing to the cause.
Despite a spot of rain for good luck, Saturday the 19th of February 2011 was a perfect day for golf, with over a hundred golfers taking part in the Hogar del Niño Golf Tournament at the La Romana Country Club.
For the residents and villa owners of Casa de Campo, who took part in the Hogar del Niño weekend, the dinner-dance party at the La Romana Country Club on Saturday the 19th of February 2011 was a fun night of surprises!!
Pitbull, who is a great supporter of the Hogar del Niño, showed his support of the charity by attending the dinner-dance celebration of the Hogar del Niño Annual Fundraising Weekend held at the La Romana Country Club in Casa de Campo.
This year, the 15th Annual Hogar del Niño Fundraising Weekend will be taking place on February 17th and 18th! Save the date!
The Hogar del Niño
The Hogar del Niño is a children’s daycare and educational center for over 1500 children, located in La Romana town, just outside of Casa de Campo. Children from as young as just a few weeks old up to 18 years old are cared for and educated daily, from as early as 5:30am and staying as late as 7pm.
The organization also provides special schooling to over 75 hearing impaired and blind children, as well as a vocational school where over 235 students receive classes in different areas like: sewing; industrial preparation, installation and electrical maintenance; plumbing and management of computer office programs.
