On August 5, the XXIV Royal Cup by the British Chamber of Commerce showcased exceptional golfing talent against the picturesque backdrop of the Teeth of the Dog golf course. The competition not only celebrated the triumph of Ramos and Schiffino but also highlighted the camaraderie and competitive spirit that define this annual event.

Ramos and Schiffino, etching their names onto the coveted trophy and earning two replicas of The Claret Jug, clinched victory with a score of 63 strokes. They secured the top gross score via a card tiebreaker against Omar Faruk Elías and Lawrence Jacobo.

The Royal Cup 2023 saw a massive turnout of 118 golfers who competed in pairs using the Scramble format across the A, B, and C categories.

The event’s opening and closing ceremonies were graced by the presence of His Majesty’s Ambassador to the country, S.E. Mockbul Ali OBE, alongside Sharon Cabral, the Chamber’s vice president, and various institutional executives. Anyarlene Bergés struck the ceremonial tee shot.

Omar Faruk Elías and Lawrence Jacobo claimed the top spot in the A category with a 61* score. Coming in second were Manuel Luna and Jabbar Singh with 63*, while César Rodríguez and Marcel Olivares secured third place with a score of 64*.

Moving to the B category, Guillermo Sicard and Luis Mejía dominated with a score of 64*, followed by Franco Schiffino and Jaime Vega in second place with the same score. Danilo Taveras and Carlos Medrano secured the third position with a score of 65.

Alberto Bergés and Daniel Allseist clinched the first position within the C category, scoring 71. Ronald Rodríguez and Luis Molina closely trailed with a score of 72*, leaving Cesar Tirado and Daniel Hernández in third place, also with a score of 72*.

The event boasted two impressive hole-in-ones courtesy of Fiat and Club Car. Additionally, several special awards were presented: Julio Heinsen claimed the title of the longest drive, while Luis de León (hole 5), Guillermo Sicard (hole 13), and Wilfredo Baquero (hole 16) showcased their exceptional skills in approaching the flag.
