September in the Dominican Republic and Casa de Campo is unashamedly RAINY and here we bring you a series of photos of a sudden and very heavy rainstorm which passed through Altos de Chavón in Casa de Campo!
As is often the case in September, the morning of this particular day was rather bright and sunny, but come midday/ afternoon a very big black thunderstorm cloud loomed – and boom the rain started!
Altos de Chavón’s cobble stones sit beneath more than 2 inches of rain – which fell in less than 30mins!
The rain pours off of the roof of the La Piazzetta restaurant
The rain fell so fast and hard that the drainage system couldn’t cope and the rain water got so deep that it nearly flooded into the La Piazetta restaurant – where I was standing to take this photo!
The rain water runs off of the cobbles and flows over the terrace
The view of Altos de Chavón from our office. It was very wet – wet enough to stop us leaving for lunch!
Please note: this was just an ordinary thunderstorm in Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic – not a Tropical Storm, Hurricane or even Tropical Depression. The rain fell hard and fast, but less than an hour later it was sunny again and all that water covering Altos de Chavón was quickly drained away and dried up!
