Outstanding psychiatrist Dr. Lourival Baptista-Neto, Vice President of Clinical Services, Department of Psychiatry NYPH / Columbia University Medical Center, was invited by the Office of the First Lady and Mrs. Cándida Montilla de Medina, to offer two lectures in the country. The first one was “Mental Health and Disability” which was carried out in the Juan Bosch auditorium of the National Library and the second was “Depression” which took place at the Center for Comprehensive Attention for Disability (CAID).

Dr. Baptista also participated in the “XLIV National Congress of Pediatrics and the II Mesoamerican and Caribbean Congress 2017 in which 2,000 national and foreign specialists were present. During his participation in the congress, Dr. Baptista gave the keynote conference “Integration of Mental Health and primary care in the Pediatric environment,” as well as two more talks.

Dr. Baptista graduated in Psychosomatic Diseases and completed a residency in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Children’s Hospital Boston / Harvard Medical School, as well as a residency in General Psychiatry at the Jackson Memorial Hospital / University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Baptista received his Master of Public Health degree from Columbia University. In 2013, he helped establish the “Youth Anxiety Center at NYPH” through a unique collaboration of clinical and basic research treatments, which offers help and hope to youth who are not treated properly or are not correctly diagnosed.
