Margharito, Altos de Chavon’s donkey resident drinks beer and he loves it! I had always thought that the beer-drinking-donkey rumor was an old an untrue Casa de Campo legend – but this donkey really goes crazy for beer!
So how did this situation and funny photo come to be taken? Well, Philip and I were in Altos de Chavón doing a ‘tourist tour’ to a new friend Claudia from Germany and we decided to get beers – and then just outside the Mercadito we found Margharito, taking some sun by the fountain. Margharito is usually a pretty friendly chap so I said hello, by stroking his nose and then he started acting very strangely, stomping his feet and reaching out to grab my beer off me! Naughty Margharito!
In the end, as you can see we decided to give the poor chap a little beer and my was he happy after!

After all the beer chugging fun, we tried giving Margharito some water in the beer bottle – he was very excited, until he released it was water and it was very firmly rejected!!
