cuerpos en carnaval

Throughout February and March, the Dominican Republic celebrated the Dominican Carnival or the Carnaval Dominicano, a celebration we also enjoyed here in Casa de Campo with the 3rd Carnaval de la Marina. And so now we are thrilled to announce that here in Casa de Campo, the spirit of the Dominican Carnaval continues… with a photo exhibition called “Cuerpos en Carnaval”.

Being held at the Jenny Polanco Project in Altos de Chavón, the “Cuerpos en Carnaval” exhibit will open its doors to the public on Saturday April 5th with a cocktail celebration for the Casa de Campo community and visitors.

With exhibiting artists Sandra Garip, Mary Rosa Jiménez, Amanda Tatiana Forteza and Angelita Casals, the exhibition highlights all the colorful beauty that is the epitome of the Carnaval Dominicano, showcasing the many nuances of this traditional celebration.

The Carnaval Dominicano, celebrates a mixture of rituals, cultures and traditions inherited from the ancestors of the Dominican people; the Taínos, Africans and Europeans. Although every Carnaval Dominicano is different and unique, some of the famous and most popular characters always seen are; Diablos Cojuelos, Roba la Gallina, Los Platanuses, Se me muere Rebecca, Alí Babá, Califé, Los Travestís, Los Indios and many more… come and see them all for yourself at the exhibit!

We look forward to see you there… And if you can’t attend the opening cocktail, the show will be open until you April 30th for you to go and enjoy.
