On Saturday the 23rd of March, Casa de Campo villa owner, Campos de Moya, who is also the President of BRITCHAM the British Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic was proud to host the 15th annual British Golf Cup on the Teeth of the Dog, with the participation of Steven Fisher His Majesty’s Ambassador for the United Kingdom in the Dominican Republic.
To start the tournament, His Majesty’s Ambassador for the United Kingdom in the Dominican Republic, Steven Fisher hit the “saque de honor” (first putt), before the 120 players divided into three categories for men and one for women teed off around Casa de Campo’s most famous course and the #1 course in the Caribbean – the Teeth of the Dog.
The XV British Golf Cup marked the 25th anniversary for The British Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic. President of the organization Campos de Moya, a Casa de Campo villa owners took this special occasion as an opportunity to thank all players and sponsors for their continued support. José María Cabral, although not a golfer himself was also recognized for his involvement in the event for the last 15 years.
At the end of a beautiful day on the Teeth of the Dog, Carlos Hoyo and Peter Garrido were announced the gross winners of the XV British Golf Cup, celebrated on the 23rd of March on the Teeth of the Dog golf course at Casa de Campo. Carlos Hoyo and Peter Garrido won the “Claret Jug” replica of the cup given at the British Open golf tournament for more than 100 years.
In category A net winners were Roy Galván and Roy Galván Jr. with a score of 65, first place, David de los Santos and Antonio Nuñez with a score of 66, second place, and César Castro and Rafael Pérez in 3rd place with a score of 66 .
In category B, the first place was team: Gerardo Tejera and Alexander Hernández, followed by Virgilio Alvarez and Aldo Ruiz, and third place Neit Nivar and Pedro Goico.
The champions in category C were team mates Ángel Méndez and Víctor Figueroa, Luis Saviñón and Gustavo Batista; and Luis Concepción and Jorge Torres.
The ladies that took the cup home were: Vilma Márquez and Carmen Olivares in first place and Cecilia Rosado de Nord and Stephany Henríquez in second place.
Special awards were to Luis García for the longest drive and the closest to the flag winner was Alexander Hernández.
