We LOVE parties in Casa de Campo (and we love curry), so when we were invited to Mignon Bellini’s Casa de Campo villa for her legendary ‘Indian Night’  we were thrilled – the fact that the dress code required us to wear something Indian caused us a few wardrobe malfunctions – but the food and the fun night made it very well worth it!

Arriving at Mignon’s Casa de Campo villa we were first overwhelmed by the delicious Indian food smells drafting from the kitchen and then amazed by how wonderful all our Casa de Campo friends looked in Indian clothes! I was very impressed by how many actually owned their own Sari’s and not only that – actually had them in Casa de Campo. As you may be able to tell from the photos (or hopefully not), Philip and I were woefully unprepared for Indian attire – I created my own Sari using a wrap and wrapped a different wrap around Philip’s head for his turban, added a bindi using 12 hour lipstick (not a good idea, it wouldn’t come off!) and hey presto we looked like Indians (ish)!!

India comes to Casa de Campo!

Before dinner began we all enjoyed cocktails on the terrace, served out of Mignon’s signature special glasses, which glow different colors and enjoyed some delicious Indian finger food, which I don’t know what it was, but whatever it was tasted gingery and fantastic!

Next, we all took our places around the tables on the terrace and made a dash for the buffet of Indian food, which looked, smelt and more importantly tasted wonderful and very authentically Indian – which made me wonder if Mignon is somehow part India, but no it turns out she has just spent rather a lot of time in India. With a variety of 6 dishes, we all tried a little (or a lot) of everything, no-one wanted to miss out on any of the wonderful flavors! Well done Mignon it was fantastic!

Mignon’s home-made (yes home-made) ice cream was the perfect end to the meal to cool off our taste buds after the slightly fiery curry! Although I don’t remember all of them, on offer was at least 6 different flavors- ginger, mint and mango among them!
