It’s the winding down of our Davidoff Artists in Residency. For a period of three months, they have been submerged in a new culture, digesting its unique landscapes, social customs, imperfections and beauty. They been able to meet new friends and confront new artistic thoughts at the same time as share with us their own identities.
TONIGHT in the Davidoff Art Studios we have the privilege to view the collaborative effort of Paolo Chiasera with three students from the Fine Arts program of the Altos School of Design: Michele Saiz, William III, and Aimée Morales. Paolo’s concept is to create a moveable gallery by painting a large canvas tent that he uses as a backdrop for invited artists to exhibit their work.
Having intrigued many with his artwork, the “Bedouin tent” upon his arrival, many students drew inspiration to make an exhibition inside of the tent, and thus they decided to structure a workshop around organizing an exhibition. They now have come together to present the latest installment of “Secondo Stile”. Paolo uses his format to help others understand the mechanics behind setting up an artist’s exhibit. We are eager to view this new collaboration.
In our interview with Paolo, he noted visual narration and context perspective as inspiration and meaningful concepts to communicate: “In my artistic practice, I become more and more interested in the quality of display and the way in which display affects the visibility of a piece of art.”
Come TONIGHT to the Davidoff Art Studios from 7:00-9:00 pm to encounter the stories within.
Artist, writer and curator Paolo Chiasera’s multi-disciplinary work, which spans painting, video, performance and installation, is primarily informed by the artist’s inquiry into historical images, myths and cultural icons. Click here to read more…
