The picturesque La Romana Country Club at Casa de Campo set the stage for the Palos Quitao (PQ) Association’s triumphant 19th Beneficial Golf Tournament, marking a weekend steeped in camaraderie and surprises.
This year’s tournament paid homage to the association’s founder and first executive director, Mr. Antonio Cáceres Troncoso, honoring his legacy with a heartfelt recognition plaque presented to his family.
Before the tournament teed off, organizers hosted a warm cocktail reception and Kit distribution at Casa de Campo’s El Lago restaurant, creating a welcoming ambiance for players to connect before the games.

The quartet comprising Santiago Hazim, Pedro Brache, Frank Álvarez, and Tito Brenes emerged victorious in the PQ Champions category. Meanwhile, Enrique Ureña, Alejandro Santelises, Alejandro Zeller, and Juan Ramos secured the top spot in the gross category. The runners-up included Rodrigo González, Manuel González, Joaquín Sánchez, and Marcos Sánchez, followed by Andrés Farach, Alejandro Farach, Lawrence Jacobo, and Pedro Cabrera in third place.
The Senior category winners in the gross category were Jaime Mota, Andrés Aybar, Jesús Troncoso, and Papo Blanco.

Miguel Roig, President of the PQ Association, expressed gratitude in his keynote speech, acknowledging the sponsors’ unwavering commitment to the noble cause. “This tournament played on the renowned Pete Dye-designed golf course, continues to make a significant social impact by supporting causes that truly matter.”
He highlighted the beneficiaries of this year’s funds, allocating half a million pesos each to Fundación Heart Care Dominicana, represented by its president, Mrs. Susana Caro; Walkabout Foundation, acknowledged by Mr. and Mrs. Mónica and Rolando González Bunster, and Fundación Facci, received by Mrs. Alexandra Matos.
Technical Director Raúl Cendoya explained that this year’s PQ Golf Tournament featured a four-person scramble, engaging 160 players in the spirited competition.
Juan Velázquez extended a gracious welcome to all La Romana Country Club, Casa de Campo attendees, thanking the organizing committee and singling out Mariajose Turull de Roig and her team for their integral role in making the tournament a success.

The awards ceremony unfolded during a gala dinner hosted at the elegant residence of Mr. and Mrs. Mónica and Rolando González Bunster. Among the attendees were players accompanied by their spouses, sponsors, PQ board members, and esteemed guests, all joining to celebrate sporting achievement and philanthropy.
Post-awards, guests relished an enchanting evening, indulging in the gracious hospitality extended by their hosts, rounding off the memorable occasion in style.
