Frank Luna, Tatiana Ortiz-Rubio art Altos de ChavonThe most recent exhibit to open in The Gallery of Altos de Chavón is outstanding. The combined works of Tatiana Ortiz-Rubio and Frank Lara were opened to the public on Thursday the 24th of October with a cocktail celebration during which they received a very warm reception.

frank luna tatiana ortiz rubio The Gallery Altos de ChavonTatiana Ortiz-Rubio from Mexico is here in the Dominican Republic taking part in the Artists-in-Residence program offered by the Altos de Chavón School of Art and Design, while Frank Lara is an alumni of the school who graduated earlier this year, and whose artwork proved extremely popular during the Art Chavón fundraiser event in February of this year.

Tatiana and Frank displayed their art work whilst mingling cheerfully with students, friends and art aficionados who turned out to admire their art work. Tatiana alongside her beautiful mother and boyfriend José Fernández Castro politely posed for photos and shared her inspiration for her work with the gathered crowd. Frank also spent the night talking and guiding the guests, among them many familiar faces of the Casa de Campo community who had admired his nature-inspired works at Art Chavón 2013.

Tatiana describes her hyper-realistic and mesmerisingly beautiful, yet thought-provoking paintings as “exploring that almost undetectable state of existence in between realities that exists only in moments of transition. They are fleeting moments that our minds have no time to grasp rationally and are only left to our senses.”

Meanwhile the works of Frank Lara have been described by Stephen Kaplan, dean of the school as being “elegant and sophisticated beyond all expectation”. Frank’s works, utilize the beauty of the nature that surrounds us, such as seeds, leaves, bamboo and turns them into breathtaking artistic creations.
