With great success, the Altos de Chavón Gallery hosted the exhibition “Reasoning of Identity” by the famous Dominican artist Oscar Abreu, in an event that brought together dozens of personalities from the world of art, social and business.
At the opening, attendees enjoyed a collection of 33 pieces, which highlights the visual inventions of Abreu, which reflect the bill of an intelligent artist and a cultured aesthetic language who, by baptizing his art as “Psycho-Expressionism” created an archetype and an artistic nomenclature that are a substantial part of its expressive medium.
The exhibition will remain open from August 14 to September 16. Marielle Araujo Marketing Coordinator of the Altos de Chavón Cultural Center Foundation was in charge of the words of welcome and the presentation of the artist. The night was enlivened by the Violin and Piano Duo of Ramón Tavarez thanks to the sponsorship of Casa de Campo, the toast was in charge of Casa Brugal and its rum Brugal Añejo and XV and Milona with their dessert tasting. We also thank sponsors who join us in support of this artist such as: Artforo, Rimya, Centro Abreu and Damien Gallery.
“I try to explore the psychological phenomenon of how unconscious impulses survive and how they mark us forever until we become who we are, I express this phenomenon with spots that resurface the surface of the canvas,” said the artist. Oscar Abreu has made more than 35 individual exhibitions in different countries. He informed that “in this collection he expresses personal and experiential references, trying to awaken a state of social consciousness in the viewer, in this hectic era of globalization.”
Oscar Abreu is one of the most highly valued and influential artists in the artistic landscape of the Dominican Republic. He is the founder of the international Artforo fair, which will be presented for the first time in the country later this year, at the Palace of Fine Arts.
