Most of us already know about the Clínica de Familia La Romana and the work this non profit institution has been doing, providing comprehensive community health services, including specialist HIV care, general medicine, gynecology, obstetrics, cardiology, diabetes, nutrition, family planning, laboratory, sonography and psychology to the community of La Romana.
Continuing with its mission of helping those most in need, the Clínica de Familia in collaboration with the Despacho de la Primera Dama de la Republica (Office of the First Lady in the Dominican Republic) and its program “Mujeres Saludables” (Healthy Women) last Wednesday July 15th carried out a free Mammogram Operation for more than 60 women aged 38 years and older.
More than 2 million new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed each year and many are diagnosed too late to be treated! Mammograms and sonography can detect a potential problem before you may be able to feel any kind of lump. The purpose of this Mammogram Operative was to aid timely detection of any breast cancer symptoms for women in the city of La Romana.
Clínica de Familia La Romana, with the aim to increase access to high quality health services for the La Romana community, is planning further medical operatives to provide services of X-ray, echocardiogram, EKG, Holter monitoring and map as well as sonography with Doppler to rule out gynecologic pathology and ovarian cancer.
