The new store named “Project: espacio de Moda, Arte y Artesanía” (Project: space of fashion, art and traditional “artesian” crafts) is located in the “Casa del Rio” in Altos de Chavón and as the name suggests boasts a beautiful collection of Jenny Polanco design clothing (for women and children) as well as her popular purses and jewelry in addition to a wide variety of typical Caribbean arts and crafts.

The opening cocktail will begin from 5pm in the afternoon and continue until 9pm – giving you plenty of time to swing by for a a congratulatory drink with Jenny herself and for a little shopping!

“Project is an art space designed to support the Caribbean crafts, in order to promote hand made design and workmanship in our countries”

In addition to admiring Jenny Polanco’s popular clothing and accessory designs, guests will be treated to a special guest exhibit by Casa de Campo community member and local artist, Malele Strofer, who will be presenting a collection of “Lámparas Recicladas”, lamps created by hand using a variety of recycled and reclaimed materials such as glass bottles and driftwood. The “recycled lamps” (pictured left) were last seen on display at the Hogar del Niño fundraising weekend dinner, when they were auctioned to raise money for the charity which runs a children’s daycare and educational center in La Romana.

And speaking of the Hogar del Niño……throughout the special inauguration evening, 10% of all purchases made will be donated to the Hogar del Niño charity, specifically for their “Café de la Leche” scheme which provides milk and other necesities for more than 200 babies cared for in the home’s “crib room.”

Livening up the atmosphere will be a musical rendition by renowned saxophonist Jean-Eric Massena from Haiti.

TIP: The new Jenny Polanco store had THE most breathtaking view out across the Chavón river – so be asure to arrive by 6pm so you can enjoy the view at sunset!
