Only in the DR – Lemon pie

This week’s ‘Only in the DR’ photo was sent to us by Simon Feugas.

You may be looking at this week’s ‘only in the DR’ photo and wondering why chewing gum is amusing – well only in the DR is chewing gum amusing!

Chiclets Fusion must be one of the main chewing gum brands in the Dominican Republic and yet their translation of this particular flavor of gum seems to be a little off! The flavour is presumably ‘lemon pie,’ which has been translated as ‘pay de limon,’ – ‘pay’ being the phonetic version of pie when said with a Spanish or Dominican accent.

Amusing! But presumably in ‘Dominican’ it makes perfect sense!
