Only in the DR: dream driving!

When one of the princes (or maybe it’s the king) of Morocco travels, he sends his own golden toilet ahead of him, to be installed wherever he goes….maybe this Dominican driver feels the same way about his bed?

The very best thing (and possibly the only good thing) about travelling on Dominican roads is all the weird and wonderful sights you get to see! Over my nearly 3 years of living in Casa de Campo, on my travels between La Romana and Santo Domingo I have enjoyed seeing pasolas (mopeds) overloaded with families of people, carrying giant boxes, enormous fish and even goats, I have seen a truck being transported on top of another truck, road buggies and golf carts on the roads (outside of Casa de Campo), I have even learnt that there is no laws against drink driving and discovered a drive-through bar!

And on a recent trip to Santo Domingo I spotted this bed being transported on top of a truck….I only wish that there had been someone taking a snooze on top – now that really would have been amazing! (And rather dangerous….not something I would recommend!)
