Although the final figures are not yet in – the Fundación MIR’s annual fundraising event – the Magical Splendor for Life has so far raised more the US$240,000 – that’s US$50,000 more than last year!! So in celebration let’s take a look at the photos of the fashion show by Badgley Mischka – who returning for their 3rd consecutive show literally blew us away with their stunning floor length dresses, which had all the ladies flocking to the Badgley Mischka boutique the following day!
The event began with a golf tournament (click here for photos) at the La Romana Country Club with the highest participation ever in the tournament’s 22 year history and then continued later with one of the most successful gala events at Casa Grande hosted by Alfy and Raysa Fanjul with the Badgley Mischka fashion show (click here for photos.)
Badgley Mischka first visited Casa de Campo more than 12 years ago as the guests of Lian Fanjul de Azqueta, founder of the Fundación MIR, who invited the designers to take part in the annual Magical Splendor for Life Gala Fashion Show – and the “red-carpet” fashion designers were this year once again persuaded to return in support of the Fundación MIR, a charitable foundation which runs 3 schools in La Romana town.
With the participation of Miss Dominican Republic, Dulcita Lieggi Francisno, the fashion show was once again the primary attraction at the elegant Magical Splendor for Life Gala, where the designers showcased their Spring-Summer 2013 and Resort 2013 collections to an enthralled audience of glamorous and fashion conscious Casa de Campo ladies.
“Our clothes are old Hollywood, they’re glamorous and they’re easy to wear and I think that a woman feel comfortable in our clothes, she doesn’t feel like she’s stepping out of her boundaries, they’re not costume-y, they’re vintage and glamorous and I think those are the ingredients that a woman looks for when she’s stepping out on the red carpet.“

The Fundación MIRThe Fundación MIR is a non-profit organization which works to provide education to the children of the greater La Romana area, who are most in need. They run 3 schools; the MIR Esperanza (boys vocational school), the Escuela Tecnica Vocacional Fundación MIR (girls vocational school) and the Primaria MIR (infants school).
