Here, in Casa de Campo we never have a shortage of golf tournaments throughout the year, so much so it is as if we are a magnet for those kinds of competitions, both national and international! So here comes yet another great tournament played here in Casa de Campo… On this occasion we bring you the coverage of an event played on Saturday June 28th, at La Romana Country Club golf course – the 9th annual Occidental Trophy golf tournament.
The Occidental Trophy golf tournament is organized by Occidental Hotels & Resorts and brought together the executives of many Dominican-based companies, as well as members of the diplomatic service, who enjoyed a pleasant afternoon and a friendly round of golf in the Dominican sunshine.
This tournament was played on the golf course of the La Romana Country Club, in the Stableford format, where players were awarded in 3 categories.
Oh Hangu had the best net score overall in the gentlemen’s category and the winner in the ladies’s category was Elizabeth Perez. These two winning players will now form the team representing the Dominican Republic that will participate in the finals of Infogolf America International Tournament, which takes place every year in Cancún, Mexico.
The special prizes for the “Closest to the Pin” and “Longest Drive” in the ladies category went to Karilyn Rodríguez (hole #3), and Mari Carmen Morales (#18) respectively while Juan Carlos Solano (#18) took home the other special award “Longest Drive” in the gentlemen’s category.
As the majority of competitors were travelling to Casa de Campo from Santo Domingo, the prize-giving ceremony and gala-dinner was held in the Garden Tent of the Occidental El Embajador hotel in Santo Domingo. The gala dinner was animated by the renowned Dominican saxophonist Sandy Gabriel with background music by DJ Persius. The 9th annual Occidental Trophy golf tournament then came to a close with the announcement of the winners of the golf tournament, as well as the multiple winners of the raffle.
