From October 11th to the 15th, Casa de Campo had the honor of hosting Nancy Lopez’s Caribbean Adventure. Those who are not familiar with golf might be wondering who is Nancy Lopez – she is one of the Ladies Professional Golf Association biggest star and was named Player of the Year four times during her career as well as the the first woman to be awarded the Frances Ouimet Award.  Lopez is a retired American professional golfer. She became a member of the LPGA Tour in 1977 and won 48 LPGA Tour events. Lopez was considered to be one of the greats of women’s golf, and she was the game’s best player from the late 1970s to late 1980s. She won three majors, and all were at the LPGA Championship Lopez was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1987. Lopez is the only woman to win LPGA Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year, and the Vare Trophy in the same season (1978). Her company, Nancy Lopez Golf, makes a full line of women’s clubs and accessories. She also does occasional television commentary and travels with groups (size 20-80+) for her Nancy Lopez Adventures company.

For quite some time now she, along with her team of expert instructors, have been hosting several programs where they teach the participants to enjoy golf, love the game and make it a FUN experience. “We educate golfers how to balance playing golf at their personal best while enjoying every moment of the game – we teach golfers how to PLAY HAPPY!” This year they decided to take their adventure overseas and celebrated their first Caribbean Golf Adventures where the golfers who enrolled not only were able to learn from the best but also enjoy our beautiful resort and all it offers -it’s 63 holes of golf designed by Pete Dye along with tennis, equestrian, shooting and fitness centers as well as a full service spa and 6 different restaurants to meet everyone’s taste buds. Nancy took time to teach and play with each attendee of the group. One of the participants shared this testimonial with the organizers: “I just got back from the most amazing golf adventure in the Dominican Republic! If any of you have been to Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, you know what I mean. The crazy thing is that I WON that trip by entering a contest on FB with LPGA Women’s Network and the Nancy Lopez Golf Adventures team. The golf and the resort were spectacular, but I have to say that the laughter and fun of all the new friends I made will be the best memories of this unforgettable trip! Golf is a passion (ok-obsession) of mine, as many of you know, but connection is what drives my spirit. On Monday, October 15th she surprised our mini golfers at the Casa the Campo Golf Learning Center. Nancy’s proven methods and emphasis on FUNdamentals allows her to effectively teach golfers of all ages, skill levels, and abilities!
