Over the past few days, many notable individuals have visited the Fundación MIR schools to show support for the children of La Romana. Mr. Andrés Pichardo Rosenberg, who was recently announced as President of Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, visited the facilities last week. Miss Dominican Republic, Sal García; professional swimmer, Mr. Marcos Diaz; the local baseball team, Los Toros del Este; and Roque del Rio Torrijos, brand ambassador of Gruppo Campari, also visited the schools to motivate students and spend time with the kids.
As every year, the Toros del Este gave an inspiring message to students. On October 20th, a group of players spoke to the children about how they can achieve their dreams, and that with effort and perseverance a person can do anything they set their mind to. The team’s mascot was also in attendance and posed amicably for pictures.
The next day, the school was visited by Roque del Rio Torrijos, brand ambassador of Gruppo Campari, which is currently one of the leading companies in the branded beverage industry. Founded in 1860, the company has more than 50 premium labels of wine, spirits, and soft drinks. Mr. Roque del Rio headed a workshop under the name of “Building lifestyle brands and people with passion” with anecdotes motivating the students to do everything in their life with passion. At the end of the workshop, the students were gifted with sunglasses from one of their brands, Skyy Vodka.
On Friday November 25th, the current Miss Dominican Republic, Sal García visited the girls of the Fundación MIR schools, where she was able to get to know the school’s facilities and meet the girls studying there. During her visit, she presented an etiquette and protocol workshop… It’s not everyday that you get to learn this from a pageant winner! The girls were very exited to have her, and actively participated in the workshop. Miss Sal Garcia was also very happy to spend time with them, and graciously posed for pictures.
The following week, after being named the new President of Casa de Campo Resort & Villas by the Executive Committee of Central Romana Corporation Ltd., Mr. Andrés Pichardo Rosenberg, also paid a visit to the school. On November 28th, Mr. Pichardo was given a tour of the facilities were he met students and teachers of Fundación MIR, and got to see how the classes are taught. Once he arrived to the multi-purpose room, he was surprised with a sweet presentation by a group of young girls who performed a choreographed dance. What was even more encouraging was that the president himself went up to the stage and joined them!
Just two days later on November 30th, Mr. Marcos Diaz, professional swimmer and current Vice Minister of Sports in the Dominican Republic, gave the MIR children a motivational workshop sharing some of his life experiences. On his Instagram page, he wrote the following afterwards: “Happy to have shared some of my experiences with the young people of the vocational centers of #fundacionmir. I have been pleasantly surprised by the beautiful work of all the directors of the centers and of the foundation, all my support always!”
It is always great t0 see how many people support the Fundación MIR and their work with the children of La Romana. Let’s continue giving to their labor of love by assisting in their next event, the Magical Splendor Gala. Donations to the charity or volunteering at one of the Fundación MIR schools are more than welcome!!!
