president leonel fernandez The 1st French-Dominican business forum held at Casa de Campo’s newly remodeled conference center ‘Flamboyan’ was attended by more than 200 Caribbean, French and Dominican entrepreneurs, top executives and businessmen and women, who came together to discuss a variety of economic and commercial topics with the special participation of of his excellency Dr. Leonel Fernandez, President of the Dominican Republic. The 1st annual “Semana de Francia” organized by the French-Dominican Chamber of Commerce and Casa de Campo with the support of the French Embassy in the Dominican Republic was formidable – a fantastique 4-day French-Dominican celebration of culture, cuisine and commerce and included the 1st French-Dominican business forum celebrated on Friday the 23rd of March. french-dominican business forum casa de campo president leonel fernandezThe French-Dominican business forum was attended by both local and international entrepreneurs and top executives from Le Havre, Montpellier, Toulon, Guadalupe, Guyana Francesa and Martinica, who discussed certain economic and commercial topics for economic development in the Dominican Republic such as; “Business in the Caribbean”, “Leading Free-Commerce Treaties”, “French Guiana: Priveleged Partnership with D.R.”, “Haiti: New Business with Dominican Republic” among others. Highlight of the event was the address made by his excellency Dr. Leonel Fernández Reyna, the President of the Dominican Republic, who speaking of the “Dominican Republic in its Regional and Global context”,  proclaimed the country as a “trampoline” for commerce between France and The Americas, before he joined the group of business men and women for a delicious lunch served at Casa de Campo’s La Caña Restaurant and Lounge by Il Circo.

In the afternoon, attendees enjoyed 8 workshops conducted by industry experts on zona francas exports, tax incentives, new tourism models, non-traditional energy sources and strengthening trade relations with markets in the Caribbean and Guyana, Guadeloupe or Martinique.

Other personalities who took to the stage at the 1st French-Dominican business forum were Claudio Silvestri President and CEO of Premier Resorts and Hotels, the management company for Casa de Campo, Gustavo de Hostos brand manager for Air Caraibes in the Dominican Republic, Tino Malchiodi from the Domaine de Barbossi estate in France and Manuel Grullón President of the French-Dominican Chamber of Commerce. president leonel fernandez Also in attendance at this prestigious event were Blandine Kriss Ambassador for France in the Dominican Republic, Ramon Menendez Central Romana Corporation, Alfonso Paniagua Costasur and Norbeto Azqueta, all of whom joined his excellency the President of the Dominican Republic, Dr.Leonel Fernández for lunch.
