Moises celebrates his collection launch in Nubah, Santo Domingo Moises Samaniego

The new Spring-Summer collection, inspired and influenced by famous cities like New York and urban art; such as graffiti with its eclectic form, diversity of colors and elements of hip hop culture, was presented by Moisés to his special guests and fashion lovers, for the first time at Nubah boutique in Santo Domingo, where they admired his fresh, young and unique designs. With french “Veuve Elise” wine, cortesy of “Abasecimientos Diversos S.A.”, and delicious typical food from Perú, prepared by Peruvian restaurant “Machu Picchu” (also in Santo Domingo), popular fashion showcased Moises’ cutting-edge, modern designs, which embrace the current “color-blocking” tread vibrant contrasting colors. Moises, the son of a Dominican father and Peruvian mother is, at the tender age of 20 fulfilling his childhood dreams, from a very young age, began to show an interest in the arts, particularly fashion, and it was this attraction that years later led him to begin his studies in Fashion Illustration and Fashion Design at the Casa Chavón in Santo Domingo, following which he devoted himself to the profession by continuing his studies at the the Altos de Chavón School of Art and Design. At Altos de Chavón, as a “Chavonero” of year , Moises attracted the attention of a Dominican designer now working in New York; Hernean Lander, successfully landing an internship over the summer of 2010 and the following summer interned with Dominican designer Oriett Demenech in Santo Domingo.
“I’m quite satisfied with the results, it’s an honor for me to have the opportunity to create designs for this select public of Nubah, especially because of it’s great history in Dominican fashion. During the cocktail, there were people who congratulated me for the pieces and I noticed that it had a positive impact among the guests…It has been rewarding.
During my time in the Altos de Chavon School of Art and Design, I started to observe everything and train my “critical eye”..I loved everything – it was an enriching experience from beginning to the end. I am now working on a new bathing suits collection. It would be wonderful to present these to the Casa de Campo market, we are working on it!”
