Odebrecht, the company responsible for building the new La Romana – Punta Cana highway, recently hosted a wonderful event for almost 900 boys and girls who live in the “Benerito” and “Villa Padre Nuestro” communities near to La Romana, with the principle objective “to create smiles” – and they certainly did!

The event “Construye sonrisas para niños de la comunidad” (creating smiles for the children of our community), which brought joy to hundreds of children is part of Obredecht’s Social Responsibility Program and was ran in collaboration with numerous other local charities and associations; Proyecto UMA de la Fundación de Corazón a Corazón Dominicana, la Asociación de Hoteles Romana Bayahibe y el Clúster Turístico de la Romana Bayahibe, Helados Bon, Fundemar, el Vice-ministerio de Turismo de Bayahibe, Arte Cuseco, Asociación Pro-Desarrollo de Benerito, Fundación Máximo Gómez, Fundación MIR y la Fundación Río Chavón.

Celebrated on Monday the 9th of January 2012, the day in which the Dominican Republic celebrated Three Kings’ Day – the event was the perfect opportunity to promote important family and moral values, as well allowing families to spend some quality time together enjoying all the fun activities at Odebrecht’s camp located at the “Autopista Coral” near to La Romana and Casa de Campo.
During this magical day, the children, along with their families enjoyed lunch, games, clowns face painting and a show organized by Proyecto UMA with a group of young dancers. And best of all – each child was surprised with a gift of toys!
There were definitely many smiles!
Miss Dominican Republic 2011, Dalia Fernández also took part in this event which was represented by Gustavo Antunes, Miguel Bernard, Carlos Theodorico and Claudio Castro from Odebrecht, Gonzalo Vargas Llosa from the Alto Comisionado de las Naciones Unidas para los Refugiados (ACNUR), Claudia Sandoval from Projecto UMA, Ana García-Sotoca from Clúster Hotels Romana-Bayahibe and the President of the Helados Bon ice cream company, Jesús Moreno.
