Fundación MIR hosted two incredible events earlier this month for the children of their schools, the Magical Splendor Gala and the Golf Tournament. Traditionally the Golf Tournament takes place the same day as the gala, but this year it had to be postponed and played on Sunday morning in La Romana Country Club.
It began around 10:00 am, with the participation of many golfers who were blessed with a clear sky and a pleasant breeze. Working together in teams of 4, golfers played in a “scramble” format with each team member teeing off. The best of the tee-shots were selected and all players played from that spot on to complete the hole. As in previous years, the golfers were treated to a variety of refreshments around the 18 holes, including Ron Atlántico, Cinco icecream and more who were sponsors of the Golf Tournament and Gala.
The Magical Splendor Gala is a significant philanthropic event to raise funds for Fundación MIR, and sponsor the educational projects and healthcare management all year long for their students. This event is organized yearly by Alfy and Raysa Fanjul, with a dinner and fashion show. This year, it featured designer Naeem Khan.
The Golf Tournament Awards Ceremony took place right after the tournament where the winners were presented with trophies and prizes.
