The Fundación MIR, a non-profit organisation with 3 schools in La Romana, recently celebrated the graduation ceremony for both the boys and girls of their vocational schools; the MIR Esperanza and the Escuela Tecnica Vocacional Fundación MIR.
The occasion was celebrated at El Polideportivo Eleoncio Mercedes in La Romana, where friends and family members of the graduating classes came together to joyfully celebrate this special occasion with the 137 graduating pupils.
Mrs. Lian Fanjul de Azqueta, founder of the Fundación MIR and Lyanne Azqueta took part in the emotional ceremony and were both visibly very proud of the students numerous achievements.
The occasion was full of special awards both for students and teachers; 2 recognition plaques and 5 thousand pesos was awarded to Maribel Castillo, teacher at the Escuela Tecnica Vocacional Fundación MIR (girls vocational school), as well as to Yesica María de los Santos Paniagua, teacher at the MIR Esperanza (boys vocational school).
The 2 Valedictorian students from each school; Eddy Pereira for the boys and Indira Natalid Peña were also awarded with plaques.
As the MIR schools focus on providing a vocational education, the 137 pupils graduated in disciplines such as gastronomy, nursing, tourism, refrigeration and industrial mechanics – congratulations to all!
Perhaps most impressive of all is that, 90% of the graduates will now continue their studies at university at either La UCE in San Pedro or the O & M in La Romana.
Congratulations to the Fundación MIR class of 2013!
