The La Romana Country Club was the perfect setting for a day filled with solidarity and passion for sports. On January 18, another edition of the annual Golf for Education tournament, organized by the MIR Foundation, took place, bringing together golfers from the local community and beyond with a clear purpose: to support the education of hundreds of Dominican youth.
Since its inception, this tournament has been a key component in the mission of the MIR Foundation, led by Mrs. Lian Fanjul. With her tireless leadership and the commitment of her entire team, the foundation has made quality education a driving force for social change in the country.
Every swing by the participants not only represented skill on the course but also an act of hope and solidarity, demonstrating that golf can be more than just a sport: it is a way to transform lives.

Exhibition “Beginnings”

As part of the awards cocktail of the Golf for Education tournament, a special exhibition titled “Beginnings” was held on the second level of La Romana Country Club.
This was also an event dedicated to raising funds for the MIR Foundation. The exhibition featured works by artists Petra Schott and Jess Cochrane, who explore themes such as origins, identity, and transformation.
The exhibition was made possible by Heliconia Projects, which, under the direction of Nicole Bainov and Elsa Maldonado, highlights its role as a platform for promoting contemporary art.
Jess Cochrane’s work is characterized by compositions that intertwine family scenes with deep themes such as memory, motherhood, and childhood. Her vibrant colors and evocative landscapes of the sun and the ocean represent the essence of life’s cycles and new beginnings.
Meanwhile, Petra Schott presented abstract works that capture emotional and personal transitions, blending the past and present through color and texture. Her work reflects the ongoing evolution of identity and introspection.
