This year’s MIR Bazaar is up and running in the La Romana Country Club and it’s begging for you to go! Lined with booths from various stores in Casa de Campo and Santo Domingo, you’ll instantly see at least five must-have items before you even step completely through the door. We fell in love with lots of accessories ideal for summer days on the beach, yachting trips, and afternoon outings in Casa. You can’t beat the chic tops and dresses at Cabana, or the embroidered clutches at Rubiluna Collection, along with a myriad of styles available. Truly, you can’t go wrong, and a percentage of sales go to benefit the Fundación MIR. It’s great shopping with a cause!
Statement jewelry pieces proved to us that this Semana Santa COLOR will definitely reign supreme again — bold gems, rainbow tassels, and chunky necklaces prevail. Delicate jewelry items on the other hand demand their own attention subtly and will add an exquisite touch to your evening ensemble. The MIR Bazaar is certainly not all about fashion, though! Plenty of home décor merchandise will catch your eye.
We had a chance to speak with Georges Thevenet of 3R Elementos, who in addition to doing large scale furniture pieces has taken on some smaller projects. Explaining how even scraps of wood can lend themselves to gorgeous designs, he now offers stunning trays and rectangular pieces appropriate for vases, office supplies, cutlery and more. They’re a lovely compliment to his well-known collections.
Stylish additions to your Casa de Campo villa can also be found in the aquatic designs by artist, Patricio Correa. Made from coconut trees, hand-painted fish are vivid wall art where no two are alike! Bring a little bit of the sea inside, you won’t regret it. Plus, hand-carved wooden platters, cheese boards, and serving bowls are among the selection by Rita Santa María from Perú. Made from 200-300 year old trees that fell from natural causes, the designs offer not only an elegant statement to your dinnerware but also rich history. Taking a moment to talk with the owner while you shop and learn about their craftsmanship will make showing off your tableware at dinner parties all the more impressive!
The MIR Bazaar is part of the annual Sugar Golf Weekend where we’ll see golfers out on the LRCC golf courses as well as the Teeth of the Dog, Links, and Dye Fore. The bazaar is OPEN TODAY at La Romana Country Club until 9 pm.; see the schedule below for their hours through the weekend. Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m, the Ladies Luncheon, hosted by Lian Fanjul de Azqueta, president and founder of the Fundacion MIR, and Raysa Fanjul, vice-president of the Fundación MIR, is open to all and will include a fashion show by Indulge Boutique from Santo Domingo.
