The 8th annual McDaniel Teaching Pros Tennis Tournament will be played next week from the 6th to the 10th of March – starting with a doubles exhibition on Wednesday at 5pm at the La Terrazza Tennis Center.
The tournament and fundraising event, which this year has Casa de Campo villa owner, Phyllis Berney as Honorary Chairman has already raised over US$24,000 from more than 100 individual sponsors and corporations – with the sum expected to top US$35,000. A sum which next week will be handed out to the prize-winners, as well as to fund the Ball Boy’s Scholarship Program and their weekly English classes.
The Ball Boy’s Scholarship Program now finances the education of a total of 20 ball boys and 1 ball girl and is this year even hoping to fund a college scholarship for one of the graduating ball boys, as Rick McDaniel, Founder and President of the annual event said “it’s not just about tennis, it’s about education and helping the boys get a better job”.
This year, the tournament’s corporate sponsorship program, supported by Silgon Inc., Marketing, Web Development & Publishing Services has been more successful than ever – with 3 new major corporate sponsors: WILSON, Charles Schwab and the Greer Foundation, as well as many others.
