The annual McDaniel Teaching Pros Tournament being played next week from the 13th to the 16th of March has already raised US$45,000 for the cause which is the principle fundraising effort for the Ball Boy’s Scholarship Foundation.
Last year a grand total of US$46,000 was raised, and with at least another US$10,000 expected to come in over the next week, this means that the McDaniel Teaching Pros Tournament has not only surpassed it’s fundraising goal, but will now be able to provide health insurance to the approximately 35 players who compete annually in the tournament.
This sum represents the support and love of the Casa de Campo community, who have donated between US$150 and US$5,000 dollars each, to help the McDaniel Family Foundation continue to provide scholarships for the ball boys, as well as weekly English lessons at La Terrazza Tennis Club and now health insurance. The tournament, played annually between the teaching professionals and ball boys of the La Romana Country Club and the La Terraza Tennis Club in Casa de Campo is has honoring Alfonso Panaigua, as the honorary chairman.
The tournament will kick-start next Wednesday the 12th of March with a doubles exhibition match which will be played at the La Terrazza Tennis Club at 5pm. The match will be battled out between the best players of the La Romana Country Club, and the best of the La Terrazza Tennis Club; Francisco Concepción with Edwin Guerrero against Pedro Nolasco with José Santana. Everyone is invited to attend and watch this exciting match.
The 9th annual McDaniel Teaching Pros Tournament will then continue with tournament rounds from Thursday to Saturday, ending with the final played at the La Romana Country Club at 4pm this Sunday.
