Marina_fishing_seasonWith the fishing season well underway and the Marina Casa de Campo brimming with international fishing vessels here to take advantage of the world-class blue marlin fishing, the Marina Casa de Campo hosted a “kick-off party” to celebrate the start of the season and to welcome all the fishermen.  DSCN1324The gathering was held at the Casa de Campo Yacht Club in the Marina Casa de Campo last Saturday the 15th of March and attended by owners and boat crews… it was quiet a lively celebration!

The motivation behind the event was to give the owners and crew of these international fishing vessels a formal (and fun) welcome to the Marina Casa de Campo and the Dominican Republic.

With the bite of the blue marlin coming in strong- that same there had been an incredible 22 blue marlin releases- the party burst with positive energy and camaraderie. After all when world-class fishing collides with a world-class resort as it does here in Casa de Campo… that’s a great reason to celebrate!

This is the first of many activities that the Marina Casa de Campo will be hosting throughout fishing season.

The season officially began on February 1st and to date a total of 171 blue marlins have been released in just 28 days of fishing. During the pre-season (January) 36 blue marlin were released in 10 days of fishing. In total since January to date 229 Blue Marlins have been released in 38 days of fishing.

The owners and crew of some 26 fishing vessels currently docked in the Marina Casa de Campo took part in the party – and we look forward to seeing them all in many more future celebrations!
