Last night Los Toros del Este (the La Romana baseball team) held a press conference to announce lots of exciting news for the 2014-2015 winter baseball season. This activity took place on Wednesday, October 8th from 6pm, on the second floor of the Supermarket Jumbo.
The event was attended by many people, including many members of the press, as well as plenty of Los Toros fans. This press conference was led by Mr. Luis Emilio Rodriguez, team president, who addressed topics talking about the renovations made to the Francisco A. Micheli stadium last year, as well as the conformation of the new team, the recruitment of international players and the presentation of the new “madrina” of the Toros.
Among those in attendance were Los Toros baseball players; Mayobanex Acosta, Aneury Rodríguez, José Lugo, Melvin Mercedes, Alberto Cabrera, Ruddy Lugo, Jhan Mariñez, Adalberto Méndez, Willis Otáñez, Andy Vásquez, Christian Adames, Ángel Villalona, Cesar Puello, Alfredo Silverio, Teoscar Hernández, Ruddy Yan, Narciso Mesa and Claudio Custodio.
Los Toros del Este, with its stadium in a very good condition, a good board of managers, and a team that represents a “mix of both veterans and young players of great quality”; are ready to give their best on the field, starting on Thursday October 16th in the inaugural game of the season.
The press conference also saw the official crowning of the “madrina” (godmother) of Los Toros for the 2014-2015 season. This time the beautiful Nahomy Gomezwas was elected, who in her role as ‘madrina’ will be present at the opening game of the season, where she will take part in the opening ceremony. During this opening ceremony she will present flowers to the ‘madrina’ of the opposition team, the Estrellas Orientales de San Pedro de Macoris.
