With a secured place in the finals of the Hogar del Niño Polo Cup this Saturday February 15th, the La Lechuza team are the favorites for the win.
According to Calixto García-Velez, Casa de Campo’s director of polo, the tournament is now “back on track” following a few unfortunate rainouts.
“As of now the La Lechuza team is 3-0 with an assured a place in the finals. Los García team is 2-1 and with a win today over a 1-1 La Carbuccia will be the second team in the finals. If La Carbuccia wins then there could be a three way tie between Los García, Casa de Campo and La Carbuccia forcing a deciding match between La Carbuccia and Casa de Campo on Friday to decide the second finalist.” Explained Cali. “Today will tell,” he added.
Today, Wednesday February 12th, the last two games before the finals will be played out between La Carbuccia and Los García, at 2pm, and La Lechuza vs La Bienvenida at 4pm. Both games will be played at the Casa de Campo polo fields, and spectators are very welcome.
A new entry onto the Casa de Campo polo circuit, La Bienvenida “has been playing better every day, but unfortunately are 0-3, so they will have to wait until the next tournament,” said Calixto García-Velez.
This tournament is being played as part of the Hogar del Niño fundraising weekend this Friday and Saturday the 14th and 15th of February.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
