Another exciting game of polo took place last Saturday, February 26th in Casa with the local team, Casa de Campo, playing against La Carmela in the Silver Cup finals.

It was a very exciting game, with both teams being quite close and exchanging goals in equal parts throughout the match. The local team demonstrated they were a strong team thanks to Dr. Leo Matos its captain. In the end, La Carmela defeated Casa de Campo by 9-8, winning the first cup of this year’s polo season. Matías Baibiene was selected as game MVP.

The Silver Cup final in Casa de Campo was a lot of fun to celebrate as it was the day before Dominican Independence Day on February 27th. Fans from all over came to the renowned resort to support a day and sport that embodies so much Dominican heritage. Prior to the start of the first match, the students of Fundacion MIR performed a beautiful acapella rendition of the National Anthem!

During halftime, with carnival music in the air, spectators were encouraged to converge on the field to stomp down the turf that has been torn up by the pony’s hooves… as always it was a very entertaining activity! Children were also seen joining in on the fun playing and running around the field.

The day closed with a fun After-Polo party for all guests with live music. Next up in the 2022 Casa de Campo Polo Challenge is the Gold Cup which started last Thursday! Stay tuned for more information!!
