Tailgating Casa de Campo Copa Semana Santa 2

Earlier this week on Tuesday March 24th, Philip and I tried “tailgating” for the first time… and we loved it! We loved it so much in fact that tomorrow Saturday March 28th we’ll be doing it all over again – and we’re inviting YOU to join us!

So what is “tailgating”?

Ok so first of all let me admit that I was a little bewildered by the concept at first too, so if you’re wondering what is this weird and wonderful new Casa de Campo pass time, here’s the basic definition:

Tailgating is to host or attend a social gathering at which an informal meal (and drinks) is served from the back of a parked vehicle. In the US this is often done in the car park of a sports stadium before watching a game.

In the case of polo, “tailgating” is an entirely more elegant affair. It may typically include an extravagant picnic, champagne, chairs, blankets, and is done from the back of your parked car at the edge of the polo field – enabling you to watch the game and enjoy your picnic.

Join us!

This Saturday March 28th we’ll be tailgating at the polo fields as the 11th annual Casa de Campo Copa Semana Santa continues with games at 2:30pm and 4:30pm.

What do you need?

1. A car (should be easy enough)

2. A blanket

3. Fold away chairs and table (optional)

4. A picnic!

5. A cooler filled with beers and champagne (obligatory!)

OR if you’d prefer to just swing by our “tailgate” you’d be welcome to join us for a bite to eat and a glass of champagne – just don’t expect anything too fancy – we’re still tailgating novices!
