Renowned contemporary artist Kristin Simmons launched her new exhibition, Welcome to My Delulu Era: Resort Edition, a vibrant and provocative collection that explores the boundary between fantasy and reality in modern culture. The exhibition is open to the public at the Altos de Chavón gallery from March 14 to April 14.

With her signature style full of irony, bright colors, and pop culture references, Simmons unveiled a series of works on Friday, March 14, that challenge the way viewers perceive self-deception, consumerism, and digital identity. The exhibition is inspired by the “delulu era” phenomenon, a term derived from “delusional” and popularized on social media, offering a biting yet humorous critique of how people create alternative narratives to cope with reality.

“I felt the world was becoming too serious. Everything was getting too heavy, even art, and I don’t think art always has to be such a serious space,” said Simmons. “I wanted to create something that would make people smile, while also considering the Casa de Campo environment. I wanted to capture that feeling I have when I’m on vacation, but still keep our usual critique in a fun and daring way. That’s where Welcome to My Delulu Era: Resort Edition came from,” she added.

The opening began at 6:30 p.m., offering attendees the chance to explore Simmons’ works while enjoying cava and lively music. At 7:30 p.m., guests were invited to a “one-on-one” meet-and-greet with the artist, hosted by Luciana Goldfain, the general manager of Altos de Chavón, where they could learn more about Simmons’ vision, ask questions, and enjoy selected snacks.

The event was organized and hosted by the Altos de Chavón Art Gallery team, under the direction of Luciana Goldfain. All pieces in the exhibition are for sale. In addition, Simmons has brought a special selection of products such as keychains, bags, and prints that reflect her provocative and unique style. Based in New York, the artist designed this collection with a “resort” feel, evoking the luxury and relaxation of Casa de Campo, but with her unmistakable irreverent and sophisticated touch. “From New York, I wanted to create a collection that captured the essence of a luxury getaway, keeping that irreverent and sophisticated touch that defines me”, she said.

The exhibition is available at the Altos de Chavón gallery in Casa de Campo, with visiting hours from Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, call 809-523-3314.
