Next Saturday the 11th of August, the Fundación MIR will be celebrating its annual “Family Weekend” fundraising event with a mixture of tennis and golf tournaments, a wonderful dinner-dance party featuring Tiffany & Co’s mystery blue boxes, as well as a fun After-Party with DJ Gringo – all with the aim of raising funds for the Fundación MIR schools in La Romana – and this year Pamela Sued will also be supporting the cause!

Since the “Family Weekend” is just around the corner, we caught up with TV Host, Pamela Sued who is also co-producer of the famous Dominican program “Sigue la Noche” and here is what she told us about her experience with the Fundación MIR:

@cdcliving: You have supported the Fundación MIR on various occasions. How do you learn about the Fundación MIR and what motivates you to continue participating as Mistress of Ceremonies?
For years I had heard about the wonderful job the Fundación MIR does for children in La Romana, but it wasn’t until 2009 when I finally meet with this beautiful proyect face to face. The faces of these children; the young boys and girls who wish to succeed in life is what motivates me, as well as seeing how the Fundación MIR offers them the opportunity to accomplish their dreams.

@cdcliving: You’ve had the opportunity to spend some time with the children at the Fundación MIR. Has anything in particular attracted your attention?
I’ve had the opportunity to spend some time with them on the various occasions when I’ve been at the fundraising dinners as Mistress of Ceremonies. I remember in one of those magical evenings, one of the girls sang a beautiful song and I had to make a great effort to focus on my job and continue, although I had a big knot in my throat. It was beautiful and unforgettable.

@cdcliving: In your opinion, what is the best way of helping children and families in the Dominican Republic?
I thing the most efficient and correct way of helping is investing in the education of the children, so they can develop into productive men and women for our society.

@cdcliving: What would be the #1 resource you would love our children to enjoy?
A decent education. The opportunity to receive an academic education, become great professionals, have decent jobs and have the opportunity to grow as human beings.

@cdcliving: What are your expectations for this years Family Weekend for Life?
Well, what we all expect, to break last years fundraising records, so that the help of the Fundación MIR can be extended to more and more children.

Enjoying MIR’s Family Weekend 2011

@cdcliving: What advice would you give our readers in order to help the Fundación MIR?
I would suggest that they find out more about the wonderful job done by the Fundación MIR and after that, they will then fall in love with such a great project. We all have a way of helping our country become better each day and supporting the Fundación MIR is an intelligent and rewarding decision.

Main comittment and mision as a public figure:

“Inform, entertain and educate as I do this wonderful job which gets to so many people. Offer a good quality service with respect to the public.”
