THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING!
The La Romana – Casa de Campo International Airport posted record arrivals during the first 9 months of the year. Russia’s “Azur Air” is the primary carrier of thousands of Russian tourists from Moscow and St. Petersburg who are arriving in La Romana. The airport saw a jump of 107% arrivals compared to 2018 data. The percentage reflects an increase from 65,221 to 135,259 passengers.
Azur Air’s parent company “Anex Tours” is the largest operator in the Russian market. They like the airport’s strategic location in the centre of the eastern region, less than an hour from Punta Cana, Playa Juan Dolio and Bayahibe, not to mention the La Romana cruise ship terminal. The proximity of both an airport and cruise ship port owned by the same company and only 10 minutes apart allows tour operators a seamless operation when transporting international travellers to multiple destinations.
For the upcoming high season, the airport expects an average of 5 weekly flights from 5 Russian cities, 3 weekly flights from Montreal and Toronto, and twice a week operations from Rome and Milan. There will also be Saturday flights from New York on “Jet Blue”. For more information contact 809-813-9000.
BAYAHIBE HOTEL DEVELOPMENTS
French based tour operators “Karavel-Promovacances Group” and “Ovoyages”, each booking over 300,000 clients to destinations throughout the world, announced plans for the construction of hotels in Bayahibe. The German operator “FTI Voyages” reported on the opening of 2 hotels, one premier and one family style.
AMERICAN AND CANADIAN EXPATS IN CASA DE CAMPO
Are you a North American tourist or perhaps a temporary resident of Casa de Campo? Coming to a new country offers many challenges to Americans and Canadians as they try to adjust to the culture, the language and the loneliness and isolation that sometimes occurs with travellers. Expat fatigue is a common syndrome that often creeps up on an individual. Contact Steve Pakozdy at [email protected] or on Whatsapp at 809-979-8614 for information on how to get connected to our Expat Group Information and Activity Blog.

NEW VILLA OWNER PASSES
Costasur has begun the final phase of the program for you to get your new villa owner’s automatic lane card passes. All old passes will be deactivated when entering the resort. Villa owners will be asked at the gate to update their villa information with Costasur customer service to receive a replacement card, free of charge.
MINORS DRIVING GOLF CARTS
CDC is asking parents not to allow their underage children to take the wheel of a golf cart. This for their safety and will help avoid a tragedy in the family. Remember, the same transit laws apply in CDC. Golf carts pulled over by the Security Department will be impounded and will only be released to the parent after paying a fine.
