Here Calixto Garcia-Velez, the director of polo operations to the Casa de Campo polo club tells us all about the tournament:

The Hogar del Niño Polo Tournament was a huge success.  This annual event is for a great cause and was strongly supported by the polo community.  We had teams competing in two different leagues featuring many local players as well as some international professional players.  The final on Friday was disputed between Enrique Bonetti’s “Propagas Team” and Bobby Jimenez’s “La Pachanga” Team.  The consolation match for third and fourth was won by “La Carbuccia Polo Team” captained by Luis Arturo Carbuccia a former president of the Dominican Polo Association who has just come from playing the polo season in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The finals was a hard fought match with both teams exhibiting moments of greatness and a great display of local horse power.  The Pachanga team featured a well balanced attack comprised of three good friends Bobby Jimenez, Alfredo Vargas and our own Luis Paniagua alongside Pedro Soria a very talented Argentine player.  The Propagas team was comprised two fireballs Enrique Bonetti and Anton Tejeda who were co- MVPs as well as local professional Dennis Santana and a visiting college student Felipe Marquez from Colombia.

In the end the Propagas team was victorious with a score of 11 – 7 anchored by a great defensive performance by their #4 player Anton Tejeda.
