During the Hogar del Niño Weekend, Casa de Campo’s first ever bike marathon took place with more than 60 participants! The 1st ‘Maraton MTB’ organised by the Cañeros, a bike club ran by Casa de Campo villa owner Simon Lopez took place on Saturday morning the 19th of February and was a wheel-away success! The group of more than 60 intrepid biking explorers raced away from the starting line at the La Romana Country Club at 8:30am and sped their way around Casa de Campo, traversing roads, bouncing through mud and potholes and exploring areas not normally visited by your average visitor – what an adventure! Many members of the Casa de Campo community – big and small rode out on 2 different routes: A (20km) and B (12km) , in 4 different categories; ‘pareja’ (an adult and a child), ‘pareja libre’ (any 2 people), ‘categoria libre’ (mens individual) and ‘categoria libre’ (women’s individual).

And they’re off!!

The competitors had all returned from their biking adventure by 11am and all congregated at the La Romana Country Club, where everyone received a medal of participation and enjoyed a hotdog, McDonalds or even a cheeky beer – whilst some of the youngest children took part in the ‘toddlers race’ which took Casa de Campo’s tiniest girls and boys racing around the golf cart track surroundingthe La Romana Country Club! With so many of Casa de Campo’s little ones involved this is a great new event for the Hogar del Niño and a really fun way to get the kids involved! Congratulations to everyone who took part!
