Fundación MIR would like to wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving. Fundación MIR themselves, are thankful for every blessing they have but here we have a few things they are specially thankful for!
“It is difficult to express in words how thankful we are for all of our (very dedicated) friends, family and donors. The 1,200 students currently enrolled at MIR receive daily breakfast, lunch and an all-star education. It is all due to the generosity of our strong community of supporters. Happy Thanksgiving to all families everywhere!” said Lyanne Azqueta, Executive Director at Fundación MIR, to Casa de Campo Living.
Fundación MIR is one of the biggest charitable organizations of the area. Organizing fundraising events to provide their students with all of the opportunities and tools necessary to be successful in life is not easy, especially if you have over 1,000 students to care for. Which is why they would like to extend their gratitude to their donors, supporters and friends.
This year, Fundación MIR was able to build more classrooms at their middle school for boys, so now they have two classrooms for the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade (instead of one classroom for each grade) which allowed them to admit more than 100 new students.
The devoted volunteers, that help out with the summer camps and many other educational activities for the students at Fundación MIR, are also appreciated for their hard work and dedication to this wonderful school. Thanks to them, many surprises are in store for the students, including today (Thanksgiving day), as there is a special event planned with a secret volunteer who will visit the school to teach the students of the Culinary Program, the secret to the most delicious Tortilla Española imaginable!
They would also like to thank Florida International University (FIU) for contributing to the excellent education being imparted at Fundación MIR. Because of the Teacher Training Program that FIU is responsible for, the teachers continue to learn different, avant-garde and effective teaching methods. This is the only Teacher Training Program that is linked to an American University and, that is entirely in Spanish.
Happy Thanksgiving from the Fundación MIR!
