Last week from the 11th to the 15th of September, Casa de Campo celebrated the 32nd edition of it’s longest running golf tournament – the Casa de Campo Open.
The Casa de Campo Open, which was first played in 1981, has for the last 32 years attracted international and local golfers alike to compete on Casa de Campo’s gorgeous Pete Dye designed golf courses; the Teeth of the Dog, the Dye Fore and the Links. And this year the prestigious tournament also marked the 65th birthday of Casa de Campo director of golf Gilles Gagnon! Taking part this year were 210 players from the United States, Aruba, St. Martin, France, Jamaica, St. Thomas, Curazao, Canada, the Bahamas, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Haiti, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Panama and of course the Dominican Republic.
To mark the opening of the 32nd annual Casa de Campo Open on Wednesday the 11th of September a cocktail and dinner was celebrated under the stars at the Beach Club by Le Cirque at Minitas beach – click here to find out more and see photos of this event!
Following the inauguration and practice rounds across Casa de Campo on Wednesday, the golfers played in the 3-day tournament from Thursday to Saturday. Following which the end of the tournament was celebrated in grand style at Casa de Campo’s Flamboyant conference center – where a prize-giving ceremony took place accompanied by a delicious dinner and live music and dancing.
