abraham lincoln school graduationLast Friday the 15th of June, the Abraham Lincoln school graduating class of 2012, along with their teachers, family and friends celebrated their graduation ceremony at Casa de Campo’s Flamobyan conference centre, before the celebrations continued at numerous private dinners……and even later at Casa de Campo’s nightclub – “Genesis” (also most recently known as “Onno’s Club”), which was re-opened for one night only – especially for the occasion!

With so many fantastic youngsters graduating (many of which I personally had taught math in 8th and 9th grade) – from beginning to end it was a truly magnificent celebration, with many good wishes and hope for the future! “We had an awesome night, it was one of the happiest nights of my life jaja… I think the party met our expectations, everyone was having fun even Mr. Wood!! We literally partied until the sun came out and I wasn’t even tired jajaja…. This summer I have a trip to Europe with Eva and Maria Laura and then I’m off to Boston! I think I’ve never been this happy!”  — Andrea Brenes, Abraham Lincoln School graduating class of 2012 and one of the party organizers!

The “After Party”, officially called “Genesis Flashback” ( Genesis was the nightclub’s original name) was in fact organized by 4 students of the graduating class; Andrea Brenes, Eva Matos, Maria Laura Yanez and Bianca Abreu, who without a doubt did an AMAZING job! Hats off to you girls! Of course the girls also had a little help from family and friends, specifically from Eva’s mother Xiomarita Matos, President of the Hogar del Niño (as well as all their parents) and “Eventos x3” party planners; Amelia Pereya, Malele Strofer and Sarah Troncoso.

It was a LEGENDARY party – with Abraham Lincoln School students and graduates of all generations partying alongside Casa de Campo residents, villa owners and even a few random visitors, all enjoying the “open bar” and the dangerous “kamikaze” shots!
“It was a blast. Honestly, it’s a shame that the club Genesis only opened back up for our graduation party. Apart from being a well-deserved celebration of how far we’ve come the party also served as a necessary distraction. The days prior to our graduation were peppered with stress and anxiousness so a moment to loosen up and forget about the troubles we faced and will face was much appreciated. Overall the party was one brief blur of excitement, the kind you wish had lasted just a while longer.

I had an awesome time and from what I hear everyone else did too! Hahaha. We laughed, cried, danced and celebrated all night AND morning so it was all great! I wouldn’t describe it as a regular weekend party. This was different. It was organized by us, for us and our friends. It felt welcoming and homey. We greeted a lot more people than expected and the fact that it was in Genesis influenced a lot. Genesis has been the night spot for many generations now and after being closed for so long everyone sure related to the name of our party, FLASHBACK GENESIS. — Victoria Giha, Abraham Lincoln School graduating class of 2012

It is very hard to find the best words to describe the party. What makes it more interesting is that they eventually convinced the people for the reopening of the Disco. The design of everything was so profesional that caught the interest of everyone.” — Juan Manuel Hernandez, Abraham Lincoln School graduating class of 2012
