Fundación MIR graduationLast Friday the 22nd of August, 127 students from Fundación MIR experienced one of the most gratifying moments in their lives, a moment in which not only did they celebrate their graduation, but also vowed to continue their hard work that ensures the well-being of not only them, but their families and the Dominican Republic as well.

Fundación MIR graduationBoth Fundación MIR high schools, the Politécnico Fundación MIR (for girls) and the Politécnico MIR Esperanza (for boys), together graduated 127 young people fully prepared for a bright and successful future.

The occasion was celebrated at the brand new Fundación MIR “Salón Multiusos” located at the Campo Nueva Esperanza, where friends and family members of the graduating classes came together to joyfully celebrate this special occasion with the 127 graduating pupils. Before the start of this majestic graduation everyone present sang the Dominican National Anthem, then Sister Ana de Jesús Luque offered a prayer, thus initiating the activity. The directors Ramón Nieve and Magdalena Rodriguez offered the welcoming remarks and left the stage for Lian Fanjul de Azqueta, founder and president of the Fundación MIR and Lyanne Azqueta, executive director, to express their best wishes to the graduates.

It was a day full of special awards both for students and teachers; Miriam Celeste Morla Morales and Jael Rodríguez Soliver were recognized for their high performance and support to the students throughout the school year (2013-2014). The 2 Valedictorian students from each school; Alex Jhonson Oguiste Guevara for the boys and Marleni Canela Peralta were also awarded with plaques.

Each of these young people have been fully trained in different technical areas offered by schools run by the Fundación MIR, including: Culinary Arts, Automotive Mechanics and Refrigeration for the boys; and Hospitality, Accounting, Culinary Arts, and Nursing for the girls. Congratulations to every students who climbed another step on the path of their lives and remember this popular phrase, “the future begins today”… Now is the time for action!

They run 3 schools; the MIR Esperanza (boys vocational school), the Escuela Tecnica Vocacional Fundación MIR (girls vocational school) and the Primaria MIR (infants school).
